Cleveland InDesign User GroupMeeting Summary
From Print to Web: Using InDesign with Dreamweaver Tue, Mar 18th, 2008 at 6:00 PM Cleveland Institute of Art
Event Details We had a great turnout at our March 18 meeting (over 30 people).
Mari Hulick, the chair of Communication Design at The Cleveland Institute of Art and our IDUG chapter co-chair, opened up the meeting.
We started off with a tips and tricks section from our own InDesign User Group members Dave Slavick and Bernard Tarver.
Dave showed a PDF of a product flyer from his company and led a discussion on how to improve the design. He then showed the same content with an improved design.
Bernard brought a sample InDesign file and discussed the ins and outs of placing PDF files in InDesign. He discussed placing multi-page PDFs and discussed options for placing PDF ads.
April Clark, Adobe Certified Instructor, presented 3 different ways to "Edit Original" files that are placed in InDesign, including PDFs, Photoshop files, and Illustrator files. She showed how to save and load swatches in both InDesign and Illustrator and then walked through the process for tagging and exporting an InDesign page for Dreamweaver. Many questions were asked about using InDesign for web creation. Comments from the evaluation sheets"Very informative."
"Every time I attend these meetings, I walk away with really usable knowledge."
"Very interesting and useful. Glad for the detail and examples."
