Frank Münschke dwb
I was born in the early '50s and began working as a typesetter at the age of 15 (next to the school and later next to the university) on a good old Varityper machine. In the age of 23 I married and had a son. So I stopped studying and worked for 10 years as a polisher and grinder in a factory.
Subsequently, I founded a publishing house with friends - the Klartext-Verlag ("Klartext" => "clear/real text"). Today - after almost 30 years - this publishing house is the largest book-publishing company in our region. We now have more than 2,200 books and countless magazines produced and distributed. In my publishing company I was responsible for the entire production (typesetting, lithography, etc.).
Four years ago I worked with my wife and my son on a daring new venture. We have established a small typesetter agency and are now working exclusively with Adobe Creative Suite products.
Our focus lies in book production:
50% scientific works with many annotations, indexing and tables;
50% catalogs for museums and exhibitions;
and 10% more ;-))) journals, v-cards, posters, flyers and anything else.
I am a board member of the Deutscher Werkbund NW - an organization with members like Adrian Frutiger (Frutiger), Paul Renner (Futura), Otl Aicher (Rotis) and Erik Spiekermann (Meta).
