Event Details We had a great turnout of 130 people for our July 16 meeting at the International Academy of Design and Technology, with many first-time attendees. We noshed on sandwiches, fruit, cookies, cheese and crackers while networking before the meeting began.
Terry White of Adobe Systems, one of our favorite speakers, presented many of the new features of Adobe Acrobat 9 and had the audience very excited as he went through the software demo. Among the amazing new features are: PDF Portfolios for sharing your work, which allow users to combine different file formats into one complete PDF with graphical interface options; new collaborating tools; the ability to comment on video; improved OCR features; native support for embedded Flash; improved forms creation, distribution and data collection; and comparing differences between document versions with greater ease and control. Terry also showcased the new Acrobat.com. which allows you to share documents and communicate in real time, and simplifies working with others.
The night ended with fantastic prize giveaways including Acrobat for Creatives Kelby Training DVDs by Terry White, Design Box Cards from StockLayouts and many books. Everyone received a notepad from Oakland Partners www.oaklandpartners.com or the Academy, and a copy of the July/August issue of Layers magazine. One lucky new member was the recipient of the CS3 Design Premium package.
