Event Details

This was a packed evening in more ways than one; four different presentations from four speakers and standing room only at the June meeting of the London IDUG.

Members traveled from as far away as Norfolk, Somerset and even San Fransisco to be a part of the evening, and they were not to be disappointed as Adobe's Jonathan Ferman kicked off the evening by taking us trough some new developments currently in labs such as Photoshop Express and AIR Media Player through to a detailed look at CS3.3 including a tour of Fireworks CS3.

Acrobat guru Jon Bessant then gave an illuminating and very entertaining demonstration of some of the great new features in Acrobat 9, focusing mainly on those of particular interest to those involved in production graphics; Jon is a really great speaker and the powerful combination of his extensive knowledge, warm Welsh charm and natural wit held the audience absolutely spellbound for the duration of his talk, which seemed to fly by.

Another speaker with a wealth of industry know-how was former Adobe employee Philip Odell whose expertise in Long Document work proved to be a real eye-opener. In this, the first part of a two-part presentation, Philip effortlessly guided us through successfully resolving some of the issues involved in this specialised subject and clearly demonstrated how InDesign CS3 has really taken a giant leap forward in this area of production.

Chapter Leader Tony Harmer finished off the presentations with a whirlwind introduction to PDF Portfolios, a great new feature of Acrobat 9 and showed how it's possible to create a compact, organised and branded collection of documents and assets in just minutes.

Winning a copy of Acrobat 9 was Sam Dyer, while Andrew Ballem took away a copy of Extensis Suitcase Fusion and Kaz Kasozi got to take home a copy of Extensis Portfolio.

Once again we were very grateful to our friends at Adobe Certified Training Partner Academy Class, who laid on a great spread of food and drink which went down really well - there wasn't even a crumb left at the end!

Thank You

- Special thanks to Adobe for their continuing support and for letting us use such a fantastic venue, not to mention the great prizes they keep sending!
