Meeting details

Type and font (mis)management - We’re all guilty of it.

  • We had seen the pink highlights.
  • We had been faced by the Find Font dialog box, one too many times.
  • We thought TrueType, OpenType, and PostScript fonts are the same thing with different names (aren’t they?).
  • We had text that didn’t print (I swear it was there!).
  • We had text that printed … funny.
  • We believed there’s no crime in sharing fonts.
  • We had no idea when to embed fonts or why we need to anyway.
  • We can’t understand why some fonts can’t be converted to outlines.

Adobe’s Mike McHugh will set the record straight and show us how InDesign access fonts. Mike will explain what the different types of fonts are, and even the legalities of font distribution. You will also learn about font embedding/converting to outlines, font matching, and some other cool designer tips for fonts including OpenType fonts.
