"Very good presentation, Jerry. Well planned. Glad I came!"
C. Fontaine
Over 130 members attended the December 3, 2008 meeting of the New York InDesign User Group.
Chapter Rep Scott Citron kicked off the event by explaining some of the changes in store for the Gotham group. Among the changes for 2009 is a new venue. No longer will the group meet at Fashion Institute of Technology. Instead, the NY IDUG is entering into partnership with the prestigious School of Visual Arts. As such, meetings will be held in SVA's brand new state-of-the-art 250-seat theater on 23rd Street between 8th and 9th Avenues, not far from the Fashion Institute.
Reflecting a broader constituency and interest, the group will no longer focus on only Adobe InDesign. Instead, the new group will be renamed the Creative Suite User Group and will rededicate itself to supporting all products in the various flavors of the Adobe Creative Suites.
At the December 3rd event, Adobe's Jerry Silverman single-handedly showed how a simple layout that starts in InDesign can be repurposed and retooled to work dynamically in Adobe Flash and Dreamweaver. Jerry's insightful presentation went a long way to demonstrate how Creative Suite 4 continues Adobe's mission to publish good-looking content anytime and anywhere.
Following Jerry's presentation and few questions from the floor, the evening concluded with its customary wrap-up. Among the prizes raffled were books, t-shirts, Adobe software, and third-party plug-ins from Markzware (Q2ID) and onOne Software (FocalPoint).
Thanks to Paul Tomzak for helping with the registration and raffle. Thanks to Bob Levine for taking photos of the winners. Thanks to Eddie Edell for being Eddie Edell. And thanks to our sponsors Adobe Systems Inc, O'Reilly Publishing, Peachpit Press, Markzware, and onOne Software, all of whom generously contributed items for the raffle.
