September Meeting with Gabriel Powell

Our meeting in September was a great success, as Gabriel Powell, the group's founder, returned to present valuable information contained in his new book, Instant InDesign. Gabriel presented great information about using the tools included in InDesign to automate otherwise tedious and time-consuming tasks. The topic that stirred the most interest seemed to be his demonstration of the built-in Data Merge functionality in InDesign, which uses a comma separated text file (CSV) exported from any database or spreadsheet software to populate templates built in InDesign.

As always, we enjoyed wonderful support from TOC for the use of their conference room, and had the help of our wonderful volunteer support staff, as well as many volunteers to help clean up after the meeting. We had great food, great information, and of course great prizes! Several people won copies of Gabriel's new book, and Karyn Pennington won a copy of InDesign CS4.
